Hi there. My name is Erica Upshaw and I am a professional speaker on the topic of drugs and alcohol. Seven years ago I would have never imagined that I would write those words. But, here I am on a mission, traveling the country to share my personal story with as many young people as possible. On April 21, 2000, I lost my brother, best friend, and fellow student, Joey Upshaw, to a decision he made to take drugs while intoxicated at his OSU fraternity party - a decision he thought was a decision to live, a decision to have fun. Joey would have never guessed that this particular decision would be his last.
My goal is to spread the word that this can happen to any one of us if we aren’t careful. The good news is tragedy can be prevented through making good decisions, looking out for friends, and knowing what to do in case of an emergency. My brother died, but hopefully I can persuade others to live. Thank you for visiting my site.
